Week of February 28, 2017

Team - Thank you for providing meaningful feedback to the accreditation team during their visit. It is always a pleasure to receive feedback from neutral qualified individuals such as this visiting team of professionals. We will take their feedback, celebrating the positives and moving forward with working on their suggestions.

As we move into this week, please remember to address the managerial expectations of your job in the most efficient manner possible. As I stated in an e-mail last week, monitoring the halls will allow you to problem solve multiple issues and therefore reduce the number of instructional interruptions that can be caused later on. Additionally, your visibility will deter most students from poor choices around you and it will increase and build the relationships you have with students as you greet them at the door.

We have a very busy extracurricular week ahead. Try to make it out to one or more of the events this week!  When your students see you supporting them, it goes a long way back in the classroom!

Week of February 20, 2017

Team - I am excited to welcome Mrs. Beverly Dye as the Interim Assistant Principal to the ranch! Mrs. Dye is a retired Principal and is very knowledgeable of the Southwest community, having served as Principal of Southwest Middle.  Mrs. Dye will be assisting us with IEPs, evaluations, discipline, general supervision, 9th grade  and more. I want to thank everyone for everything you do on a daily basis. This first week could not have gone any better and I owe much of that to you and your dedication to this school and our students.

Moving forward, I would like everyone to review their lock down drill this week. We WILL be having a mandatory Lock Down Drill coming up. Dr. Monell will keep you informed.  Please be prepared. Additionally, it is important to review your tornado drill. We will be proceeding through that time of the year, so again, please be prepared. Any questions related to these drills should be addressed to Dr. Monell.

With the accreditation process coming up, we are moving the mandatory week of PLCs to the following week.

Last, thank you for providing us with your syllabus and pacing guides. If you have yet to turn them in, please turn them in to Mrs. Barnum by Monday AM.

Let's continue to support our student athletes in their upcoming events!
