Week of February 10

Team,

Thank you so much for your participation in reviewing the feedback I have received from everyone. I will share all posters with the guidance you provided this coming week. I do realize we were time pressed. If you feel we need to spend more time on specifics of what needs to occur, please see me in person so we can develop a plan. Thank you so much!

Big shout out to Mr. Byrd, Ms. Gillis and Ms. Steely for a great job with this year's swim team! THREE Medal winners, THREE school records broken, and a 9th place overall in the states!  Way to go swim team! Additionally, while that means so much to me, a video catching positivity means evens me more to me. SWGHS, led by Will Watson, started a chant that brought members from ALL teams together, exclaiming that everyone is a winner. While the video only captures the end result, it sure looks like everyone in that picture is on the same "team". So, so proud! This right here is a testament of what this community and this school is producing. This quick video can be found online later tonight.

We will be heading to homeroom this coming Thursday for ALL grade levels. This Thursday, we have locked down 90 minutes to have our juniors handle some mandatory pre-bubbling for the the upcoming ACT (to be held on February 25). We have the Sophomore ring pre-ordering scheduled on the same morning to reduce further interruptions in the upcoming weeks as well. We will have a bell schedule for you no later than tomorrow afternoon.
Students are not allowed to take the ACT if they have not completed this portion of the ACT answer sheet prior to test day. Any student who is unable to complete this pre-test activity during the first block homeroom next Thursday should contact Mrs. Barnum directly.

A quick reminder that we have interims to distribute this Tuesday for all students in all classes. Please remember that we call all students' parents/guardians if they are standing at a D or and F, or have dropped from an A to ta C.

The counseling department will start registration this week, Feb 10th through Feb. 21. As every year, they will meet with each student that is in enrolled in English classes starting with juniors (rising seniors) to discuss how registration will look in powerschool in the spring along with their transcript, schedule for the 2020-2021 school year, and other information such as AP Courses, GAP, GTCC etc. They will meet with each student individually in their offices.

Powerschool will open up Feb. 17 - Feb. 23 for students to select their classes. ALL students must pick 8 courses to START with.

Ms. Compton and Mrs. Cook (CDC) will meet with 9th grade students in the classrooms.
