Staff Round UP for October 12

Great work team!

Congratulations are in order...

ALWAYS... THE BEST ARE AT SOUTHWEST!

Team,
Thank you so much for your feedback on a daily basis. Upon returning from Dr. Monell's celebration and FINALLY getting to my e-mails without my Principal of the Day present, the overwhelming positive e-mails about today's faculty meeting made my week. As I have stated to many, I know it is near impossible to meet all "5 Love Languages" for a staff of 150 plus, I also want to thank those who personally reach out to me, with possible frustrations, and the willingness to be part of any solutions that will better serve them, or their colleagues. I truly appreciate that approach and I always have a takeaway or two from those individual meetings.  Please keep it up. We are in this together, we feel each other's struggles and I can not thank you enough for continuing to lift each other up during these times.

A reminder that we are approaching the end of quarter this coming Friday, October 16th. Have you had those critical conversations with the parents of those with Ds or Fs? A suggestion ...as you have these conversations, please guide all parents to the parent portal platform... the link with directions for them is within my community blog. More information will come from Mrs. Cline regarding information related to grading for the end of quarter.

Please remember that 2021 Benefits enrollment information can be found HERE.

As discussed in the faculty meeting, please refer to the flow charts attached here when it comes to leave while in Covid.

Any questions should be directed to Mrs. Harris in this FORM
Gentle reminder, the board voted for High School students to return on January 20th. More details will be communicated as we start preparing for this date. Please make sure you stay in the loop of all GCS and SW communications. A great deal of information is available on our website.  www.gcsnc.com/reopening.

Please share with your parents if they are not an observer in Canvas:

This video has been used district wide to provide information regarding pairing student and parent accounts in Canvas so parents can access what is due, what has been submitted, graded, etc. You’ll see in the video that one of the key pieces is a pairing code that can only originate from the student account holder.

We will be giving the PSAT to all Southwest 10th and 11th grade students IF they complete online registration by October 9.  The online registration link can be found in the QUICK LINKS area of the GCS and the SWHS websites. Students or families who are not comfortable returning to the building to test on October 29, will have the option to take the PSAT on January 26.   The January 26 date is also a National Merit Scholarship qualifying test date for juniors.  Covid protocols will be followed for building entry, social distancing in halls and classrooms and masks that cover both nose and mouth will be required to be worn at all times by staff and students.  Remember you must complete the online registration process by October 9th in order to test at SWHS on October 29.
