Week of January 16th

Team -

I hope each of you have enjoyed your 3 day weekend!

On August 28, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood before a crowd of civil rights supporters and admonished racial inequality, discrimination and social injustice.  Dr. King’s 17-minute  “I Have a Dream,” speech is one of the most recognizable public addresses that spoke volumes, and in turn, gave a movement even more momentum.

Monday, we observe the celebration of Dr. King’s life.

Thank you for being patient again this past week as GCS maintenance continues to address the heating issues around parts of our building. We will continue to be persistent on this issue until it gets resolved. The change with temperatures outside are certainly not helping us.

Non state exams in blocks 2/4 are to be given on Tuesday. If you haven't already, please make sure you are communicating this to your parents and students. This day is a regular school day. Exempting the exams on this day does not excuse any student from school on this day, however, students do not have to attend school during the five state exam days in which their class would have been scheduled. Please work with your neighbors and/or teammates if you are needing any students to be supervised while providing your exams during the Tuesday non state exam blocks. This is a perfect opportunity for students to be studying for other exams, or even making up any work if necessary. The state exam schedule, Wednesday, January 17th to Monday, January 22nd will test blocks 1-4 for all state exams, followed by make up exam day on Tuesday, January 23rd. Wednesday, January 24th will be the first day of the 2nd semester. The state exam days will end at 1:05 for dismissal. If you have ANY students staying after with you and need transportation, please make sure Mr. Miller knows so he can communicate with transportation. Students should be in dress code for all exams and will NOT be allowed to take their exam if out of dress code.

Any students who have GTCC classes on the day of state exams can be released ONLY after the exam is finished in the room. If he/she finishes, they must wait until the whole class is complete.

As a reminder, please make sure you are alerting the student's grade level counselor and administrator if you are nervous about a student failing your class. Additionally, please remind students of their make up time responsibilities and any work that needs to be made up.

The remainder of the testing exam schedule is as followed:
