Week of September 24

Fellow ranchers,

Great job on this past week's lockdown drill. We will have a tornado drill coming up this week. Please make sure you are reviewing ALL procedures with each of your classes. I appreciate your efforts to prioritize safety and security on our campus.

Tuesday, we will be in the locations assigned by Mrs. Barnum for the PSAT pre-test administration. This will take less than an hour and we should be back on regular schedule for 2nd block.  Seniors will report to their assigned homeroom and then to the auditorium for a senior meeting. All teachers assigned to those seniors should assist with the meeting.

I know many of you expressed a desire to have some training on writing letters of recommendation. Feeling a little unsure about writing recommendation letters or need a refresher? (Trailer 5 at 8:15 am, 9:00 am, and 10:30 am)  Learn how to bring a student to life with a strong letter of recommendation. This workshop is offered in the College Advising Center, Trailer 5 See you there!

Great job to everyone who is using, analyzing and altering instruction driven by data. If you are still unsure with this process, some colleagues (and I am sure there are more) to collaborate with and to "steal" some great things from... Sarah Corriher, Mashamas Allah, Christine Fry, Stephanie Powell, and David Talley. Keep up the great work to EVERYONE who is using their data to meet the needs of all of their students. I also welcome anyone to visit me if they believe there is are alternative ways to deliver any of these expectations to the staff. If I do not know what the struggles are, it is impossible for me to assist you.

Get ready for evaluations to start as everyone on staff should be complete with their PDP, Self assessment and orientation.

If you are a club advisor, please make sure your club is already planning a service project for each semester. Please make sure it is meaningful and can be tied to the campus of SWHS.  Also, the Crop Walk is Sun. Sept 23 and is the biggest fundraising event to help Open Door ministries in High Point. Mrs. Davis needs your kids.  You do not have to come, but you are welcome 😊.  Please refer to Mrs. Davis' email for proper paperwork.   Please share with all of your club members that they can earn 2 hours of SL by attending and participating.  If they sign up by the Thursday before the walk they MIGHT get a t-shirt.  If you don’t have time to make copies of the forms, tell your members to come to D126 and Mrs. Davis will have copies of this form outside her door.  Questions? Just email Mrs. Davis- this is a fun and family friendly event.

"We are Southwest" apparel is now on sale until September 27th. Feel free to navigate to the www.NCscreenPrintingAndEmbroidery.com website and click on the SWHS logo to place your order. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Coach Black.
