Week of June 15th

Staff,

I want to thank each and every one of you for an amazing job you have done entering the pandemic, during the pandemic, with all the unique events held, and closing up the year. Educators across the globe were required to completely transform their delivery of instruction overnight. We know this was not easy, but you all faced the challenge and hit it out of the park! We continue to be a leader around the county every time we face challenges and I am very proud and privileged to be the Principal of Southwest Guilford High School.

Here is the link for the recorded faculty meeting for those that missed it:

  • Front office staff monitoring the "Bat Cell Phone" away from campus during the pandemic
  • Teachers creating virtual field trips, zooming with professionals in the field and inviting students, maximizing the use of canvas, making your canvas pages inviting, etc.

  • So many people on this staff went above and beyond their expected responsibilities. Please forgive me if I missed anything. Thank you to EVERYONE for all that you have done, and do!
ONLY THE BEST WORK AT SOUTHWEST!
From the desk of Kristy Cline:
June 15th   =  Report cards printed
June 29th  =   Powerschool goes offline for the all schools

From Jen Black:
"Wow!!! Seriously WOW!!! When we were first brainstorming this idea and thought 3miles to run or walk for the week would be achievable, y'all blew those 3 miles out of the water!! ðŸ˜³ We should have set the weekly goal at 10 miles! Some of y'all were running 6 or more miles in a day... I was like, are they even working?!?! Haha! I am so so so proud of everyone that participated in this challenge. If you look of the padlet, you will see our top runners/walkers. The winner of the tablet is Mrs. Phillips with 100+ miles over the 4 weeks and Mr. Mode won the mini from the drawing. I hope everyone has an AWESOME SUMMER & stays active!" ðŸ˜ŠðŸ’šðŸ–¤

I hope each and every one of you have a wonderful summer!  You deserve every bit of it and more!  I will give you updates along the way as it  relates to what we should expect come school opening. As I have shared before, please be careful listening to other employees from other schools and counties. If you receive what you believe to be a "factual" e-mail, feel free to send it to me and I will check the facts of it. I promise to do my best to keep you on top of any news throughout the summer.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for being you!  You rock!

Have a great summer!

Mr. Hettenbach
