Week of September 9

Hello Ranchers!

Team - with my message this past week regarding room temps, please remember to let me, or another administrator know if your room is 85 or greater. With that being said, if you are in the consistently hot rooms in the "C" building, I will allow you to wear business-like shorts and a polo shirt, only if your room is having those heat issues. Please still dress respectfully.

Please remember that interim reports are to be distributed to all students in all blocks this Thursday. Phone calls should have occurred in advance to allow parents an opportunity to steer their child into a more favorable academic outcome.
Please remember to distribute the materials that Mrs. Barnum has provided regarding PSAT to all Sophomores and Juniors during your 3rd block only. Juniors and sophomores should begin to study for the PSAT held on October 16th. They can go to www.collegeboard.org for study skills.

If you have not done so, please take a moment to catch up on the safety/security modules GCS requires all staff to complete.  https://guilford-nc.safeschools.com/

One scholarship in the amount of $500 for one 10th-12th grade student will be awarded that night!!!

Free Application for Federal Student Aid Day! FASFA opens up Oct. 1 so start to begin the application with parents (https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa), go to www.cfnc.org for one stop shop for scholarships searches, apply for college, study for tests, send transcripts, and much more.

Please assist the counseling team with consistently sharing information from their department (through your e-list, reminds, on your white board, etc.)

Seniors should start to work on college applications.

Look at counseling website for more information on SW site.

Seniors need to complete the NC Residency which is required by all NC Schools. That is also located on cfnc.org.

Students, especially juniors and seniors, begin to tour schools. Register on the college site.

Check remind and emails weekly for information from the counseling department
