Week of October 14

Hello Ranchers!!!

The PSAT is this Wednesday, October 16th and is taken by sophomores and juniors. Juniors and sophomores can study for the PSAT by going to www.collegeboard.org for study skills. Please share this resource with your students! Seniors will have a senior meeting at the beginning of the day and will have an early release immediately thereafter to work on college applications, essays and even visit job opportunities. ALL students must report to their homeroom at the beginning of the day.

Students  will begin taking the Equal Opportunity Schools Survey this week through their 2nd Block class and some CTE classes. Please see the schedule that Ms. McPhail will provide.

This Monday, October 14th, from 10-11, the Guilford Apprenticeship Partners will visit Southwest to give a presentation to interested students.  Students who have signed up will be dismissed from their 2nd block class to come hear the presentation and get a chance to ask questions of these local companies. Please review the e-mail that Mrs. Cook has sent out.

It's back! The SWGHS Parent Empowerment Summit. An amazing opportunity for our community members to visit an array of sessions that will help them better navigate as a parent! Lock it down in your calendar and share it with all! Post this on your door, set up an incentive with your class so their parents attend. If you have any interest in being a part of this in any way, please do not hesitate to reach out to Michelle Phillips!

Tutorial buses start Tuesday. (October 15).  Tutorials should run from 3:30 to 4:30. Teachers were sent the attachment from Mrs. Ognosky for the tutorial passes. Please do not leave these out for students to take. Students MUST be on time for your tutorials in order to receive a tutorial bus pass from you on those days. Please set high expectations form the very first day. If they arrive late to your tutorial and say they came from another teacher, either a pass will be sent with them, or simply call to verify. Students should not be in the halls between 3:30 and 4:30.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and the Carolina Panthers are teaming up for #WEARITLIKEAPRO. The four high schools (one per Classification) with the most votes could win the same high-end football helmets the Panthers wear each week. Vote now until October 15 at https://www.panthers.com/fans/wearitlikeapro Please don't forget about this contest. You can vote as many times as you would like. Please help out Coach Christman and Coach Doak with this process!

OneCard identification badge wearing will be starting soon. Now that we have but juts a handful of pictures left to take, Mr. Miller will let everyone know when we will begin.
